POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Patent Engineer to join our team and play a key role in shaping and protecting Ignion’s technology leadership. This is a unique opportunity for an electrical engineer with a strong background in antenna/RF design and a strategic mindset for intellectual property to work at the crossroads of technology, law, and business.
You will be instrumental in expanding and strengthening Ignion’s international patent portfolio, directly contributing to our global IP strategy. As part of a dynamic and innovative environment, you will collaborate with R&D, legal partners, and business leaders across the US, Europe, and China.
ACTIVITIES
- Drive the preparation, drafting, and prosecution of high-quality patent applications in close collaboration with external IP counsel.
- Build and defend Ignion’s international patent portfolio (US, EP, CN), working closely with patent attorneys and examiners.
- Conduct in-depth market surveillance and reverse engineering of competitor products to identify potential patent infringements and new filing opportunities.
- Engage in continuous learning and hands-on R&D activities to develop a deep technical understanding of Ignion’s antenna and RF technologies.
- Support the strategic alignment between IP protection and business goals, contributing to the innovation roadmap and long-term IP vision.
- Interface fluently and professionally with IP partners and stakeholders in Europe, the US, and China.
- Translate complex technical innovations into clear, strategic, and defensible IP assets.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Required:
- BSc and/or MSc in Electrical Engineering; PhD in a relevant field will be a strong plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in antenna and RF design, with a solid grasp of electromagnetic theory and wireless systems.
- Proven experience in writing and/or prosecuting patents, or a demonstrable interest in IP protection and strategy.
- Excellent written and spoken English; capable of drafting high-quality technical content such as patent documents or scientific publications.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with an eye for detail and a strategic mindset.
Valued:
- Qualifications or certifications in patent engineering or intellectual property law.
- Experience working with or within patent offices, IP law firms, or corporate IP departments.
- Understanding of global patent systems (USPTO, EPO, CNIPA) and their procedural requirements.
- A proactive, self-motivated attitude with enthusiasm for technology, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Interest in working across disciplines — engineering, legal, and business — to deliver impactful results.
